About Amy
I am a passionate and caring English teacher who is focused on ensuring students feel confident in their own abilities. I love and appreciate literature and take special pride in my ability to explain concepts in a clear and concise manner. Tutoring is about honing the skills you are already learning and developing your confidence. It’s about getting one on one time to ask questions you are unsure about and be in an environment where you feel safe and supported. It may take some hard work, but investing that time and energy into your success is something you deserve.

Lessons are created around each student’s own needs and areas where more support is needed.
The first lesson is to establish what the lessons will be moving forward. We can discuss areas where you think you need improvement. There will also be a simple exercise where you will do some writing so I can see if there are any other gaps.
Homework is given, but it is only revising things from the previous lesson. The expectation is that 15 minutes a day can be spent on this until the next session. This could include learning language features, using language features in writing or identifying them. Also, practicing core writing and comprehension skills needed for specific NCEA assessments, grammar activities to improve writing quality and overall knowledge of a text which is being studied.
