About Caitlin

Hello! My name is Caitlin, and I am 25 years old from Charleston, SC. I have been tutoring students for over 8 years now, and I have been in teaching roles for 4 years. I have taught and tutored a variety of different subjects, but I am the most experienced in giving lessons related to English.

I graduated from university as the Valedictorian of my class with a B.A. in Communications, during which I extensively studied English, public speaking, speech and academic essay writing, and more.

During my time at university, I was a peer tutor and peer mentor for 3 years, and I tutored students and peers of mine in over 15 different subjects. I was promoted to the position of Tutor Coordinator before I graduated, during which I tutored other students but also gave lessons and trainings to the tutors on our staff about how to connect with students, different methods and strategies they could use, and problem-solving for difficult situations. After I graduated, I then went on to teach for a summer learning workshop for high school students at Yale University.

After my time at Yale University, I was selected to receive a Fulbright Scholarship based on these credentials and a number of written essays. This scholarship allowed me the opportunity to be an English Teacher in Spain. I have done this as well as private tutoring for the last two years.

About the lesson

Lessons will be set up depending on the needs of each student.

During the first lesson, we can get acquainted and discuss what area(s) the student would like help or guidance with.

Writing and essay prep will include proofreading, editing, and suggestions for clarity, voice, and structure.

Lessons about literature will involve discussions about how to derive theme, tone, mood, and other important literary features.

Grammar and vocabulary will involve activities and exercises for learning and practice, according to level.

Any other English-related needs can be discussed and accommodated!
