About Jake
Hi, I'm Jake. I'm an Oxford graduate, and I'm currently working on a Master's in Journalism at City, University of London. My favourite book is Dubliners by James Joyce when I'm feeling pretentious, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams when I'm not.

With English, I understand that people have different priorities when looking for a tutor. For students who want to get through their assessments with the best grade they can, particularly at GCSE, I focus on exam technique, methods for efficient preparation, and developing a strong understanding of set texts. For students at A Level, I help students develop ways of engaging with literature critically, typically through close reading, discussion of unseen material, and practice answers.
I have worked as an English teacher in Hong Kong, and hold a BA in History and English from the University of Oxford. My lessons are usually one hour, but I am happy to be flexible.
