About Elva
I hold a Master’s degree in English Literature, which has deeply shaped my appreciation for the language and its power to communicate, persuade, and inspire. My academic journey has equipped me with strong analytical and writing skills, along with a deep understanding of literary works across genres and time periods. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping my teaching philosophy, which emphasizes clarity, curiosity, and confidence. Over the past 5 years, I have worked with a wide range of students—from school-aged learners building their foundation in English to adults refining their written and spoken communication. I enjoy adapting my approach to meet each student’s unique needs, whether they’re tackling grammar rules, preparing for exams, or aiming to become more effective and expressive writers. My teaching style is encouraging and structured, rooted in the belief that everyone can become a strong communicator with the right guidance and practice. I help students break down challenging texts, express themselves clearly, and find their voice through writing and discussion. I also bring in relevant, real-world examples to help bridge academic English with everyday use. Beyond tutoring, I stay connected to literature and language through writing, editing, and continued learning. Through conversation practice, discussion-based exercises, and presentation tasks, students build fluency, confidence, and appropriate language usage in everyday and academic contexts.
