About Nelson

I am a Joint Medical Program (JMP) student, Sydney Grammar graduate and HSC All-Rounder. Over five years, I have taught more than 200 students and developed extensive consultation experience working closely with students and families to identify priorities, respond to feedback and build practical plans for improvement.

Students often arrive knowing more than their marks show. Some need a clearer essay structure; others need stronger analysis, more disciplined editing or a reliable way to work under time pressure. My teaching turns these broad challenges into specific, achievable next steps through clear explanations, carefully sequenced practice and feedback students can use immediately.

Lessons are calm, rigorous and responsive to the individual. Students learn how to plan, draft, edit and evaluate their own work, manage time more effectively and approach assessments with greater confidence.

The aim is lasting independence. Students should leave with stronger work, a clearer understanding of how to improve it and a dependable process they can use beyond the lesson.

About the lesson

Every program begins with a focused diagnostic of the student’s current work, assessment brief and feedback. Together, we identify the skill that will make the greatest difference and set a clear goal for the lesson.

ENGLISH SUPPORT
• Develop precise theses and sustained arguments
• Analyse language, form and context with depth
• Select and integrate evidence purposefully
• Plan and craft imaginative, persuasive and discursive responses
• Edit efficiently and perform under timed conditions

A TYPICAL LESSON
1. Review recent work and pinpoint the next priority
2. Model the skill using high-quality examples
3. Practise together with immediate, specific feedback
4. Apply the skill independently in an exam-style task
5. Record the key improvement and a focused action for the week

Progress is measured through the quality and independence of the student’s work, not simply the amount completed. Feedback is translated into manageable targets, revisited in later lessons and refined until the student can apply the process without prompting.

Sessions are available online and in person in the Epping area. The goal is stronger writing now and a reliable method the student can carry into future assessments.
