About Anderson

Hi everyone, I'm Anderson. I'm studying a Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics at UQ, and I've been tutoring English for over 5 years.

Qualifications:

- Full marks in every English assessment, internal and external, including - 25/25 in the External
- 99.95 ATAR, St Peters Lutheran College Indooroopilly
- 5+ years tutoring QCAA English
- My own course materials, built and refined over years of teaching

I still tutor English because I like it. Finance is what I study, but English is the subject I enjoy pulling apart, and I get a lot out of watching a student go from dreading an essay to knowing exactly how to build one.

QCAA English is a specific system with specific expectations, and most of the marks come down to knowing what the criteria are actually asking for. That's what I teach. I've spent years building my own materials rather than working off generic worksheets, because the students who improve fastest are the ones who understand the marking rubric as well as the text.

Every student I've worked with has improved their results.

About the lesson

Beyond helping with assignments and exams, I've built my own English material mapped to the QCAA syllabus. It's what separates my lessons from generic worksheet tutoring, and it's the reason my students' writing improves quickly rather than gradually.

The aim is a strong foundation in narrative, persuasive and analytical writing. Get those three right and a student is ready for whatever the subject puts in front of them, whether that's an unseen exam question or a text they've never studied.
