About Rachel
My name is Rachel. I have been married for 6 years and we just welcomed our first child in December! We have the best dog in the world, a Golden Retriever named Finley. She loves cuddles, walks, treats, swimming, and all the love and attention. We live by a lake and really enjoy boating, beach time, and paddle boarding. I am an avid coffee drinker and when I have time, I enjoy reading psych thriller and romance novels.
I started teaching 7th grade English & Social Science in 2015 after 2 years of substitute teaching in various grade levels. I found 7th grade to be the sweet spot of middle school teaching. It brings with it knowledge from 6th grade and is fundamental in preparing students for high school's social, emotional, and academic challenges. I have also earned a Master of Science degree in Instructional Design focusing on technology. I do feel I have a knack for technology and have been able to pick up on different resources, tools, and devices.
Ultimately, I enjoy getting to know my students and discussing their interests, school, and goals. I look forward to meeting you!

When it comes to assisting students in reading and writing, I work to understand their individual needs and areas of growth. I specialize in 1:1 literacy conferencing, writing prep, and revisions. While I have the most experience in middle school, I am well-equipped to help kids any age from 1st grade through high school.
In terms of lesson plans, each session will be structured to fit the student's immediate needs, with time set aside to practice and improve on their identified areas of weakness. I can and will assist in helping students with homework they may or may not understand and will work to provide constructive feedback on their work in a timely manner.
