About Callum

I’m a drum tutor with 7 years' of experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music. My goal is to make drumming fun, accessible, and inspiring. I teach students to build solid technique from day one. We explore rhythm, control, creativity, and groove. My lessons are structured but flexible enough to adapt to your musical interests. I’ve performed with various modern bands and studio projects. This experience helps me guide students towards real-world playing. I believe in breaking down complex ideas into simple steps. Students learn to play confidently and musically. I use a mix of demonstration, practice drills, and song-based learning. My teaching environment is positive and supportive. I encourage learners to develop their own style while mastering fundamentals.

Building strong confidence in drumming is a big part of my approach. I help students set achievable goals that keep them motivated. Whether you want to play casually or seriously, I’m here to help you grow. Let’s make drumming an exciting part of your life.

About the lesson

My drum lessons are designed to cultivate creativity, musicality, and technical skill in a fun and structured environment. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, whether that’s mastering fundamental techniques, improvising freely, or performing in ensembles. Lessons cover timing, stick control, hand independence, coordination, groove, dynamic control, and rhythm reading, while integrating song practice, play-along tracks, and improvisational exercises. I encourage students to explore their personal style, experiment with rhythms, and express themselves through music. My teaching approach combines structured learning with creative freedom, helping students develop confidence, self-expression, and musical awareness.

Practice routines are designed for steady progress, with achievable goals and milestones to celebrate along the way. I also emphasise listening skills, ensemble readiness, and musical interpretation, helping learners connect their technique with expressive performance. Each session is engaging, inspiring, and productive, ensuring students gain both technical proficiency and artistic confidence. Drumming becomes a tool for creativity, emotional expression, and personal growth, allowing students to enjoy music fully while building discipline and skill.
