About Liyah
I am a third-year BSc Psychology student studying at the University of Sheffield, currently on my placement year in clinical psychology. I have one year of tutoring and mentoring experience with students aged 11-18. I achieved an A* in Psychology A Level in 2023 and am consistently achieving 1st class results in my degree in both exams and essays.
I am enthusiastic about psychology but patient and can adapt my approach to best fit the student's learning style. My lessons focus on consolidating a strong understanding of the content, and translating this understanding into answering exam questions effectively, meeting the mark scheme criteria.
I would like to tutor to share my love of psychology as well as help students achieve the best results they can.

My lessons are for AQA A Level Psychology students (aged 16-18). We can either work through the AQA syllabus together a lesson at a time, or you can inform me at least 24 hours before the lesson what topic or unit you would specifically like to cover during that lesson, including how to approach exam questions on that topic. We both have our cameras on, and I share my screen so you can see the resources; this may include a textbook, a shared Google Doc for note-taking/essay-planning, flashcards, pre-made notes I have made for the lesson, past exam questions and more. I also share a copy of the resources used that I (or we) have created for you to look back on outside of lessons, or revise from.
I adapt the pace of the lesson to what suits you best, and how much content we need to cover. I teach that lesson's content in an approach that works best for you, whether this be verbal explanations, mnemonics, analogies or joint discussions, all supported by visual resources. You can ask questions at any time - I believe lessons should be two-sided and interactive, rather than me speaking at you for the majority of it. You can also show me what you have been working through within college/sixth-form, and I can help you understand any parts you may be unsure about. I support you with exam preparation, including for mock exams, by sharing revision strategies, topic resources and essay plans. I discuss with you and teach you how to tackle exam questions for each topic, including those dreaded 16-mark essays, utilising past exam questions.
My degree has solidified my psychology knowledge, and I prepare diligently for each lesson.
Overall, I tutor with enthusiasm, conscientiousness and patience. I believe that a good working relationship between me and the student is necessary for a supportive and productive learning environment.
