About Zainab
I am very enthusiastic and motivated about teaching pupils. I did an Accounting degree at undergraduate level because I like Maths as a subject and graduated with lots of key skills which I developed. I have always had a great interest in teaching in particular an interest in Primary Teaching. I undertook a placement in a Primary school which gave me sufficient experience to train as a teacher or teaching assistant. I have also worked as a School Teaching Assistant in Special Needs schools and volunteered as a Maths tutor as well, whilst studying for my PGCE Primary degree. I love the idea of teaching and can teach a variety of different subjects as I have school qualifications in various subjects. I have got a lot of teaching experience as I would love to become a teacher. I have done my Primary Education 5-11 (PGCE) Postgraduate certificate at Birmingham Newman University which means I can teach pupils from the ages of 5 to 11 and become a Primary School teacher. I also have a TEFL certificate from TEFL Universal and have completed 150 hours of advanced TEFL training. This means that I can teach English to pupils of all ages and can help you to improve your English skills or even learn the whole English language if you don’t know English and are a beginner. I have also done tutoring in my spare time and have helped Primary and Secondary pupils with their English and Maths skills and helped them with difficult questions and problems. I became incredibly interested in teaching after realising how much I had benefited from passionate and wonderful teachers. The dedication and enthusiasm they radiated for learning inspires me to carry on that same passion and devotion to pupils. I find teaching to be dynamic and I am so excited to engage with the pupils and cultivate their personal development. I can share my ideas with pupils in an enthusiastic manner and appreciate the pupils’ ideas, ensuring that they are always listened to in a positive way. It’s important to explore ways of inspiring a pupil’s visionary development, and that their success is fully optimised. I have acquired many skills from my Accounting degree as well as from my Primary PGCE degree and I will also apply these to my teaching. I also have knowledge of various core subjects like Maths, English and Science along with non-core subjects which I have experience from during my time at Secondary School and doing them at Scottish Higher and Intermediate 2 level. I am a highly-organised person and have maximised self-study and working at the same time. I have been interested in teaching from a young age and cared for my older sister who was severely disabled. Taking care of a disabled sibling was a blessing for me and allowed me to know how to take care of a child with severe physical and learning disabilities. Such experience has ensured that I have the most pivotal qualities that any teacher should have; compassion, empathy and kindness. Moreover, during my time at Secondary School, I was a Paired Reading mentor where I helped the younger students to improve their reading and literacy skills weekly. I felt pride watching my students develop their fluency skills. Furthermore, I also had some volunteer work placement in a Primary School in 2019. Volunteering with children from the ages of 6 to 12 gave me invaluable experience and gave me the skills I need to be a great teacher. I have constantly learning from other experienced teaching staff, leaving me in awe and affirming that teaching is the path that I want to take. I have also learnt to appreciate how hard teachers work and how much of a rewarding career it is. My respect has grown tremendously during this experience and has motivated me even more to follow this amazing career path. I believe that I can incorporate creative ways to the current teaching methods. I believe that it rests on the teacher to explore an imaginative and creative style to cater for each pupil’s specific needs. I have a keen interest and aim to design and mould my lessons to meet the teaching standards. I am a passionate individual with great self-awareness and a strive to succeed and it would give me the immense pleasure to make a difference in the growth and development of a pupil. I am hard working and aim to reach the goals that I set for myself. I believe and hope that I hold the prerequisite skills for great teaching such as confidence, creativity, organisation skills and dedication to teaching. I am also an avid Marvel and DC fan and love going to the movies to watch the latest releases. In my spare time, I enjoy baking for friends and family alongside being a crazed animal lover and being a proud cat lady and owner of 3 cats. I love horses in particular and also started taking horse riding lessons as well because I think horses are very majestic animals. I also love to travel and have been to a few countries but I hope that I am given the opportunity in life to be able to travel to many other countries on my bucket list.

I hope that I can be a great teacher to my pupils. I want to have an approach with my pupils which is fun, being an active listener, keeping pupils engaged, having a good conversation and getting to know my pupils better and also to be a reliable teacher to them so that I can be depended upon to give great teaching. For my lessons, I would firstly get to know my pupil more and have a good rapport with them so that they have the confidence in me to be able to teach them. My lesson plans would include a class topic and a lesson objective as well. The class content would be made up of a number of questions about a particular topic that the pupil is learning e.g. this could be done for an English Speaking Class. My role is to help pupils to engage and elaborate on their answers. They are conversation masters and would take the lead as well during the lesson, and instead will use the questions to guide the work that they are doing and to help make the lesson flow easily for the pupil. It would be my objective to personalise each of my lesson for each specific pupil by using my knowledge and information learnt and also use other learning materials with regards to the pupil’s job role for example and the private teachers notes for me to personalise a great lesson plan for the pupil.
