About Thomas
I am passionate about literature and all forms of storytelling! As a screenwriter, I have worked as a writer-collaborator on a feature film currently in production with the Toronto International Film Festival and led the scriptwriting team for a Master of Arts final film project. Currently, I am writing a film that was selected as one of the top five projects to pitch to industry executives at the Digi60 Filmmaker’s Festival. I was also a finalist in a global scholarship contest, earning a partial scholarship to participate in a private mentorship with Oscar and BAFTA Award-winning filmmakers. In addition to my creative writing achievements, I have experience tutoring students in English and preparing them for the AP English Literature exam. I personally achieved a score of 4 on this exam during my first year of high school. Furthermore, I completed first-year English courses at the University of Ottawa last semester, earning a perfect 10.0 GPA. Currently, I am taking a break.

I am passionate about helping students learn about the English language and literature. In a typical one-hour session, I use an inquiry-based approach to learning.
The lesson plan includes:
1. Essay correction and feedback (on an essay about a piece of fiction written before class).
2. Inquiry-driven book discussions (based on a selected piece of fiction read before class), which include historical context, relevance, and analysis.
3. A question-and-answer segment.
When selecting works of fiction, I tailor the reading list to the student's curriculum and aspirations—whether it's to nurture a passion for literature, deepen understanding, or prepare for standardized testing.
For more information about ESL or creative writing tutoring, feel free to message me. I also offer classes in Korean and about the Korean language!
