About Allison
I am a senior at Brown University studying Geophysics and Climate Physics. I’m from Chicago, and in my free time, I sing in a choir, teach myself Spanish, and love trying new restaurants and cuisines. After graduation, I hope to teach high school physics or math for a couple of years before pursuing a PhD in marine or aviation meteorology.
To me, English and writing is like a puzzle. There are rules and conventions, and following them makes your argument clearer and stronger. I’ve always loved writing and editing, and it’s helped me massively throughout my scientific career. Colleagues come to me for assistance with communicating complex scientific ideas into understandable English words. There are many things that I learned in my own K-12 education that stuck with me and shaped how I write and edit, and I’d love to pass that knowledge down to you or your child. I enjoy writing about any and all topics including literature. I’d love the opportunity to work with you!

I offer individualized tutoring in writing, English, grammar, and literature for students in grades K–12. With extensive experience in writing and editing across all academic levels, I specialize in helping students produce writing that is clear, structured, and persuasive. Younger students (K–4) learn the foundations of strong writing through proper grammatical sentence structure and other age-appropriate language skills. Middle school students (grades 5–8) develop the ability to organize their ideas into a clear five-paragraph essay with a strong thesis and well-constructed topic sentences. For high school students, including those enrolled in AP English Language and Composition, I provide guidance on rhetorical strategies and subtle grammatical techniques that strengthen clarity, argumentation, and style. At every level, lessons focus on understanding the facts of the topic, applying appropriate English conventions, and communicating ideas effectively and confidently.
