About Adam

Hello! I am an International Baccalaureate (IB) educator with dual teaching certifications in the US and Japan and a Master's degree in Education.

Over the past 15 years, I have taught English Language and Literature in international schools across the world. During this time, I realized that many highly capable students struggle with texts and essay writing not because they lack ability, but because they do not understand how teachers and exam boards actually grade their work.

I transitioned into private consulting because I am passionate about demystifying the academic writing process. I love helping driven students achieve that "lightbulb moment" when they finally understand how to decode a complex prompt, structure a compelling argument, and present it in their own words.

I am currently based in Japan, which provides a fantastic timezone advantage for my American students, allowing me to offer lessons during your afternoon or evening hours.

About the lesson

I do not believe in passive tutoring. Instead, I use my 15 years of classroom experience and take an inquiry-based, highly collaborative approach using your syllabi, upcoming assessments, and past papers to build practical, lifelong skills tailored to your individual needs. You’ll learn to think critically, structure your arguments logically, and use the terminology examiners / admissions officers are looking for. You can expect actionable feedback after every single session.

My 50-minute lessons are conducted via high-quality video call so that you can learn from the comfort of your own home at your own pace. They’re designed for ambitious high school and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students who need measurable, academic results and a strategic advantage in their coursework or university admissions.
