About Sofia

I grew up in Torino learning English from my Scottish mother, so when I moved to Glasgow to study Architecture, I started teaching Italian to children and older students, sometimes creating little classes.

I have helped people with learning Italian conversationally, academically and professionally. We can prepare you for language exams, university or school work, or even just a little holiday. My experience varies from different kinds of students, so I have developed a strong professional skillset that allows me to design lessons for the different preferences and needs each student has.

I love sharing my knowledge and culture!

About the lesson

My teaching methodology depends on the level that my students are at. Usually, I try to analyse an Italian text which can be picked out of a video, article, song or different sources and try and see what my students understand. Throughout this process, it is easy to find what my students are strong or weak in and intervene as we go. If I am working with children, the approach will be through games and certain topics they might enjoy.

I will push my students to become aware of their weaknesses, but most importantly of their strengths. Usually, people tend to repeat similair mistakes very often, and I will give you the tools to learn to catch this yourself.

In general, I like to encourage my students to grow confident in expressing theirselves, regardless of their level. I think everyone learns best when they are less scared, and feel more free to experiment. I will make sure the teaching environment encourages this!
