About Gabrielle

I am a qualified and experienced primary school teacher who is committed to ensuring that the children I tutor become confident and successful learners. I have experience adapting lessons for children who need extra catch-up support or may be ready to make the next step towards fluent reading and creative writing as well as learners with additional needs who may require specific care and support.

About the lesson

I have enjoyed 15 years guiding early readers and writers of a range of ability (Early Years and Key Stage 1) towards reading and writing proficiency through structured, high-quality phonics teaching to a love of reading and writing.

I understand that all children progress at different rates and whether your child needs extra support to catch-up, has an additional need which requires specific care and support; if they are ready to make a leap to the next step or enjoy the challenge of reading comprehension and creative writing, I adapt tuition to meet their needs.

I use an effective systematic, synthetic phonics teaching programme that follows clear, structured activities which children pick up quickly and know what to expect, maximising time spent practising skills. Amongst a range of activities, children practise skills with decodable readers and writing dictated sentences. As the rate of reading becomes automatic, more focus can be placed on comprehension towards reading fluency.
