About Mariya

I have always believed that education is a fundamental right and a powerful tool to unlock potential and create positive change. My passion for literature and learning fuels my teaching approach, inspiring students to explore new ideas, think critically, and find their own voice. I see every lesson as an opportunity not just to teach content, but to empower young people to believe in themselves and their ability to shape their futures. With five years of experience as a secondary English teacher and KS3 Phase Leader, I love helping students build confidence, improve their skills, and achieve their goals. Watching a student grow — whether mastering exam techniques or discovering a new passion — is the most rewarding part of my work. I’m committed to creating a supportive, engaging environment where every learner feels valued and motivated to succeed.

About the lesson

I’m a qualified English teacher with a BA in English literature, PGCE and QTS with over 5 years of experience in UK and international schools, including time as a KS3 Phase Leader. I’ve taught English across a range of settings — from inner-city state schools in London to an international British curriculum school in Kuwait, delivering both GCSE and IGCSE content, including AQA English as a Second Language. I specialise in helping students gain confidence, improve their written and spoken English, and develop the critical reading and writing skills needed for exams and beyond. I also have experience supporting EAL learners, including those new to English, and students with additional needs (including deaf students working with interpreters). My lessons are inclusive, dialogic and interactive. I treat every one as a learning journey we embark on together with curiosity and compassion. Whether you’re preparing for GCSEs, IGCSEs, or looking to strengthen your overall literacy, I offer engaging, online sessions tailored to each learner’s goals.
