About Bipasha

I am a certified (distinction and medal holder) Kathak dancer and teacher from India (currently based in the UK) with 30 years of learning experience and 11 years of teaching experience (2 years online). I teach students of all ages and abilities, currently offering only online classes, either in small groups or one-to-one to 30 students. I prepare my students for exams, auditions, competitions and performances. While I enjoy enriching myself by continuously learning from eminent Gurus, I love imparting my knowledge to my students. Dance is my passion where my body meets my soul and that's why even though I am a scientist, I love spending my evenings and weekends dancing and teaching dance.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is based upon my own learning techniques and then mould it to fit the students' requirements. I understand that each student is different and I allow that level of flexibility in terms of pace and topics. I make a tailored learning outcome for each student focusing on his/her requirements. Most importantly, I encourage imagination and creativity as required to master any art form. Specifically, I cover both practical and theoretical aspects of Kathak dance - starting with basic mudras, angahaar, footworks, basics of taal, I go in depth of all the three aspects of Kathak - Nritta, Nritya, and Abhinaya. Also, I choreograph Bollywood and contemporary music with Kathak style and help my students understand the choreography.

Perfect! I have been learning kathak with Bipasha for more than a year. She is very patient with us. She is passionate about kathak. I have managed to pass my grade 1 exam as she encouraged me to test myself so that I know I am progressing. She is very thorough and goes through everything in detail. I have attended her workshop and has been lucky enough to perform with her on stage. She inspires me to learn more. I have learnt from her that you are never too old to learn something new and apart from the mundane routine, you can always make time for something you love.

Perfect! Bipasha is very very understanding and patient. My daughter didn't have any exposure to classical prior to this and Bipasha has helped her begin Kathak in the most patient way possible. My daughter still enjoys the dance form - which is the main goal for now - with no pressure to be perfect at this stage.
