About Lori

With over 20 years of experience as an educator, I bring both expertise and empathy to every tutoring session. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English, a Master’s and Doctorate in Educational Leadership, and I’m a certified Secondary English teacher. I’ve supported students from middle school through early college with everything from literary analysis and academic writing to college essays and career preparation. My goal is always to create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment where students can grow in both skill and confidence. About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is highly personalized, responsive, and rooted in over 20 years of experience in English education and academic coaching. I believe that every student has unique strengths and goals, so I begin by building a strong rapport and understanding of what they need, whether it's mastering essay structure, improving reading comprehension, or preparing a standout college application.

A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in to assess progress and identify any immediate concerns. From there, we focus on skill-building through guided practice, discussion, and feedback. I use scaffolding techniques, real-world examples, and questions that promote critical thinking to help students grow not just as learners, but as communicators. Lessons often end with a short review, reflection, or next-step assignment.

What sets me apart is my ability to balance academic rigor with encouragement. With a doctorate in Educational Leadership and years of experience supporting students from middle school to early college, I know how to challenge students while keeping them motivated and confident.

My lessons are ideal for students in grades 6–12, college freshmen, or adult learners seeking help with academic writing, reading, literature, or college and career readiness.
