About Pauline
I have been reading since the age of five. At the age of 17, I received 100% for my matric (school-leaving) English grammar exam. I studied Latin at school, so I understand the roots of many English words!
I have a Social Sciences degree from the University of Cape Town; an Honours degree in Psychology from Unisa, and a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from UCT. I've also studied journalism and had articles published in newspapers. I write poetry and songs.
I've worked as an editor on school and university books for more than 20 years, correcting the writing and helping to tell the story clearly. Most recently, I've helped PhD students improve the English in their dissertations, so that it's easier to understand.
I also enjoy playing with words and learning new ones.

I'm not a teacher, but a listener and a helper. I'd like to start with your goal (for example a CV, or being able to share your ideas in writing or a conversation) and work towards it, step by step.
My English may sound old-fashioned, but it's bullet-proof.
In a typical lesson, you'll get a variety of examples to help you understand English, and use it with more confidence.
By the end of the lesson we will have shared some jokes, fixed the mistakes, written something new, and you'll get some examples to do for homework.
My lessons are aimed at students who are either finishing school and starting university, or who have left school and need to polish their English for work. I can also help with the preparation of a dissertation.
