About Chris

I’m Chris, a writer, director, and educator with experience in both the entertainment industry and the classroom. I’ve worked across film development, script reading, directing, and education, which allows me to teach storytelling from both a creative and practical perspective.

My background includes working with students from kindergarten through 8th grade, as well as professional experience reading and analyzing scripts, developing stories, and creating my own film projects. I understand how intimidating writing can feel at first, so I focus on making lessons clear, encouraging, and useful.

As a tutor, my goal is to help students build confidence in their ideas, strengthen their writing skills, and learn how to shape stories with character, structure, conflict, and theme. Whether a student is working on a short story, screenplay, school assignment, college essay, or personal project, I aim to create a supportive space where they can grow as writers and storytellers.

About the lesson

Lessons are designed to help students become stronger, more confident storytellers through creative writing, screenwriting, and story structure. My teaching approach is practical and collaborative, focusing on character, conflict, theme, dialogue, and clear dramatic storytelling.

Examples of what we may cover include building a compelling protagonist, creating tension, outlining a short story or screenplay, improving dialogue, developing a personal writing voice, revising scenes, and understanding how professional stories are structured.

A typical lesson begins with a short writing exercise or discussion, followed by a focused lesson on a specific storytelling tool. From there, we apply that tool directly to the student’s own writing so they leave with real progress, not just theory. At the end of each lesson, students receive writing prompts or exercises to complete as homework, helping them continue building their skills between sessions.

What sets me apart is my background in both education and the entertainment industry. I have worked with students from kindergarten through 8th grade, and I also bring professional experience as a writer, director, and filmmaker.

These lessons are best for middle school, high school, college, and adult students who want to improve their writing, develop original stories, understand structure, or gain confidence expressing their ideas on the page.
