About Ryan

I am an experienced Head of English with Qualified Teacher Status. I currently work as a freelance educational consultant and author and I have taught GCSE and A Level English for over 8 years in British secondary schools. I also have experience of teaching IGCSE English to students attending international school as well as students who are home-schooled. I provide courses in other disciplines such as critical thinking, debate and a range of literature text studies.

About the lesson

English is the key to understanding what it is to be human and the beauty of how and why we communicate. I firmly believe that every student can succeed in English as I believe that all concepts can be broken down and built back up again with informed discussion. Each lesson, we will explore a theme, device or exam technique that will improve your performance in English rapidly and with immediate results. We will focus on quick-wins and the simplification of course content. Each lesson includes the marking of a piece of homework with feedback to be given in lesson each week.

My daughter started secondary school and began to learn Spanish. Ryan was her first teacher of languages and she has been truly inspired. We have since asked Ryan to tutor her as she has considered taking her GCSE early. In my daughters words Ryan is “ ¡muy divertido “ I highly recommend Ryan, he is very encouraging and has really boosted her confidence and ability in speaking Spanish.

Ryan is an excellent tutor and works hard to build relationships and promote progress in all learners. He taught my son English and thankfully he got the grade he wanted. He also helped my cousin’s kids with Spanish and they loved it.

Ryan tutored me for A level Spanish, he is very thorough but still makes the learning enjoyable. He is a native speaker so is able to give examples of his own experiences. I would highly recommend him.
