About Kathleen
I graduated cum laude from the University of Miami, earning a BA in English and criminology as well as a minor in music business and entertainment industries. At University College London, I received my MA in electronic communication and publishing and was awarded Highest Distinction for my dissertation. Since 2009, I've privately tutored students in the US and UK in a variety of subjects, including (but not limited to) elementary, middle, and high school English literature & comprehension, social studies, math, and SAT prep. From 2014 to 2016, I served as a permanent substitute teacher, working with freshmen, juniors, and incoming high school students. I have continued to tutor in English, essay writing, and related subjects, working with a variety of students from fourth graders to clients in master's programs. I am currently in the process of earning teaching certification for English 6-12.

I'd love the opportunity to work with you and help you succeed in the classroom and beyond. I believe that with some effort and direction, every student has the ability to thrive, no matter their learning style. I teach my students to read between the lines and think critically, helping them build a solid vocabulary, form a good grammatical foundation, and utilize tools to identify textual evidence. I take my time to adapt to every student's specific needs and always aim to make my lessons both fun and informative, whether they are in 6th grade or returning to school at 60.
