About Brad
It’s important that youth discover their best selves, and I pride myself on helping my students do that! When we are in session, my students will not only see growth in their reading, writing, and thinking skills, they will also develop confidence and curiosity as learners. In the classroom, my students call me kind, helpful, and even a little funny. Most importantly, my students feel valued and heard. I celebrate difference, embrace challenge, and encourage my students to do the same. That’s when learning happens!

I have served in urban middle schools for 17 years and I have a deep respect for equity and diversity. My teaching approach is student-centered. I listen to my student, assess their need based on data, and provide engaging activities and helpful feedback to initiate growth. I believe in gradual release of new skills: I will demonstrate new skills, we’ll try the new skills together, and then you will show me you can use the new skills on your own. I am eager to help you develop an essay (some say I’m better than chat GPT!), analyze a reading passage, or develop your overall confidence with literacy.
