About Yvonne

As an instructor of communications, my career has been quite diverse, versatile and specialized as I have taught English, Humanities, Journalism, Reading and Special Education in the Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia public school systems. Most recently, I served as Library Media Specialist in the capacities of Teacher, Information Specialist, Instructional Partner, Curricula Leader, Program Administrator and Community Liaison for the District of Columbia Public Schools and Baltimore County Public Schools. I worked in tandem with parents, classroom teachers, reading specialists and special educators to meet the needs of our entire student body. And in all the wonderful incidents, I experienced the individuality of each student’s journey toward enrichment, fulfillment and discovery of self. I look forward to that embrace.

EXPRESS YOURSELF! I always begin a Tutoring Class with writing. WRITING IS KEY! I want to know what makes you laugh, what makes you sparkle. Tell me about your most talented moment or your most embarrassing. Share your thoughts and feelings with me. Then you can understand the thoughts and feelings of others.

Next, read someone else’s writing. Share your thoughts and feelings about the reading. Then, discuss the Author's thoughts and feelings. YOU ARE COMMUNICATING!

Everyone has a GIFT to share! When we accept and embrace the gifts we bring to our group, WE ARE CONNECTING! We are enriching each other’s lives with OUR GIFTS!
