About Jenny

I am Jenny and I graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington 25 years ago with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus in English and Communications. I have taught in the public school system in both Indiana and Ohio and have tutored students 2000+ hours privately, after school and on the weekends.
Throughout the years, I have worked with many families and have formed close bonds with my students, many all the way through college. I am experienced in all areas of ELA (Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Conventions) and AP studies. I have also worked with many ESL students and those with IEP’s. It is very rewarding to see my students excel in their academics and gain success in their field of study.

I am very knowledgeable with most standardized tests and have also helped many students prep for required tests necessary for private school admission. I find that establishing a close relationship is key in building my students’ confidence, especially in those subjects that are a struggle for them.
I have also taught in private learning centers with groups of 8-10 students. Of these sessions, many of them were geared to help students score high on the SAT/ACT. I normally start prepping my students starting in eighth/ninth grade and find that with earlier exposure to the way the digital test is set up, they are more likely to earn higher scores. I find private tutoring, whether it be one-on-one or small groups, is more rewarding than teaching in a large classroom as I am able to bond and form tight relationships with my students. The trust that is established is a definite plus in the success of my students’ academic futures.

Hi there,

I am an English teacher and have tutored privately for over 20 years. I have helped many students and have many pleased parents. I have many references from the families and students I have worked with over the years. My experience includes all grade levels and most subjects. I also tutor test prep, including SAT/ACT, PSAT, HSPT, SSAT, SHSAT, CoGAT, TACHS, TOEFL, and GED. I also help students edit and polish their college essays. Some other skills that I help students develop are: writing, editing, reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, spelling, ESL, and math.
