About Caroline

I am a retired English teacher with over 25 years of experience teaching in both independent and state schools. Throughout my career, I have taught students across the full ability range and all secondary year groups, from Year 7 up to A level. My specialism is AQA GCSE English Language, where I have successfully helped many students achieve top grades. I take pride in creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and make mistakes as part of the learning process. My lessons are structured, engaging, and always focused on building both skills and confidence. About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is supportive, structured, and exam-focused. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths and areas for development, then tailor lessons to their individual needs. I use clear strategies, model answers, and examiner insights to show exactly what is required for top marks in AQA GCSE English Language. I also encourage a growth mindset, celebrating progress and helping students build confidence alongside skills. Lessons last one hour and are designed to be interactive and engaging, with a balance of explanation, guided practice, and feedback. I am a retired English teacher with over 25 years of classroom experience in both independent and state schools. I have taught the full ability range, from Year 7 through to A level, and have successfully guided many students to achieve their target grades and beyond. My lessons are aimed at secondary students, particularly those in Years 10 and 11 preparing for GCSE English Language, with a focus on ambitious learners aiming for grades 7–9.
