About Lydia
I’m an experienced English teacher with over 30 years in UK classrooms, working with students aged 11–18 in both state and independent schools — including top-tier institutions. I’ve taught and examined across all major exam boards (AQA, Cambridge, OCR), with a strong track record of boosting student confidence and achieving excellent results in both GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature.
Throughout my career, I’ve supported a wide range of learners — including high-achieving students through my successful 'Pushing for 9 Club', as well as neurodiverse pupils needing tailored, confidence-building support. My specialism in one-to-one tuition comes from decades of mentoring alongside classroom teaching, and I’m now enjoying offering that focused, high-impact support online.
I offer a warm, engaging learning environment where students can develop critical thinking, essay-writing, and textual analysis skills, whether they’re aiming to pass, excel, or apply to top universities.

I aim to foster pupil autonomy and confidence by providing clear knowledge, effective techniques and crucial time management skills that students need to thrive within exam conditions.
In lessons, I will set a challenge, model it, question it, then give students practice followed by feedback and further questioning. Learning how to question a text or task is how students develop confidence and engagement.
I have created thousands of resources over the years, allowing pupils to access transparent, actionable, and readily obtainable information, boosting their comprehension and attainment.
I have specialist experience supporting neurodiverse students as well as coaching for top grades and applications to top universities.

Mrs Livingston was my teacher for my Alevels from 2023-2025. She provided in depth discussion points and encouraged both an analytical and enjoyable instruction on the texts we studied. With her teaching, I was able to achieve an A* in my English Literature Alevel under the OCR exam board.
