About Tessa
I hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in English, International Development and Law. In a years' time I will begin training as a lawyer in a commercial City firm.
My professional experience compliments my academic accomplishments to make me a better tutor for students. I understand the valuable skills they need to develop to thrive in school, at university, and beyond.
My experience working with children and young people is extensive. I have nannied and worked in childcare for years while I was studying, which helps me to create a friendly and productive atmosphere with students.

I am an experienced tutor with several years of experience supporting students across secondary school and primary classes. I have also taught English and History in a secondary school up to A-Level. My students often raise at least 2 grades through working with me.
My specialism is in English, but I also have experience tutoring in Law, History, and a range of other humanities subjects. Having worked as a GCSE and A-Level tutor in schools, I understand the curriculum and the practical steps that students need to take to succeed.
What makes me stand out is my friendly and supportive nature. Exams and the school year more broadly can cause anxiety in students, but I approach learning in an engaging way to help you or your child thrive and enjoy the subject.
I am also available to support students in the build-up to university, having helped develop compelling personal statements and applications.
I think the skills built during courses such as English or History are almost as important as the subject matter itself. I support my students in developing critical thinking, essay-writing and presentation skills which will be valuable beyond their secondary education.
