About Darcy
Music has been my life for as long as I can remember. I'm a professional multi-instrumentalist and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Music, where I honed my craft and developed the deep understanding of music that I now pass on to my students.
Over the past 10 years, I've taught thousands of lessons to students ranging from young kids picking up their first instrument, adults and retirees chasing a lifelong dream, as well as music graduates seeking further education. Watching a student nail something they've been working on, whether it's their first chord change or a complex solo never gets old to me. That shared excitement is exactly why I teach.
As a performer, I've played across a huge range of styles and settings, which means I bring real-world experience to every lesson, not just textbook knowledge. I know what it's like to be on stage, in a rehearsal room, and in the practice grind, and I love helping students build the skills and confidence to do the same.
I'm patient, encouraging, and genuinely passionate about helping people find joy in music regardless of what level they're at.

My lessons are built entirely around you — your goals, your favorite music, and the way you learn best. Whether you want to strum your first chords, master advanced technique, improvise confidently, or finally understand the theory behind what you're playing, I'll design a plan that gets you there while keeping lessons fun and motivating.
Not sure if I'm the right fit? Your first lesson is completely free — it's a no-pressure chance for us to meet, chat about what you want to achieve, and get you playing something straight away.
Lessons typically run for 30 to 60 minutes depending on your age and goals. I'm happy to recommend what will work best. I teach guitar, bass and mandolin across virtually every style, plus music theory from absolute beginner through to advanced and tertiary level.
I hold a degree from the Australian Institute of Music and have spent the past 10 years teaching students of all ages and abilities. I'm an advanced player with real-world performance experience, so you'll be learning from someone who lives and breathes this stuff.
I teach from my home in Ivanhoe and surrounding areas, or I can come to you for lessons in your own home. I also offer online lessons via video call.
