About Pete
I’m an accomplished contemporary guitarist, songwriter, producer, and passionate music educator who loves helping students unlock their creativity and confidence. My approach combines strong technical foundations with real-world industry experience, making lessons engaging, inspiring, and tailored to each student’s goals.
Over the years, I’ve recorded, produced, and co-written music with Jay Parrino, a judge on All Together Now, and more recently performed with Tara Browne from The Voice Ireland. As a versatile performer, I don’t just play guitar — I began learning piano through the Suzuki method at age four, have performed bass guitar in HMS Pinafore, and have also studied singing and drums. This broad musical background helps me connect with students across many styles and instruments.
My formal training includes a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Composition from University of New South Wales, where I graduated in 2000 and topped my final-year in composition. My expertise in contemporary guitar techniques also led me to write a thesis in the field during my studies. I later completed a Diploma of Sound Production at TAFE NSW and earned a Steinberg Certificate in Cubase, taught by respected contemporary industry professionals.
I’m deeply passionate about songwriting, recording, and music production, and I regularly create music from my home studio, with releases featured on Triple J Unearthed. I also won a Protools license for my sound design work on the animation “The Itch" in an Avid competition.
As a teacher, I’ve taught both private and group lessons in primary schools, high schools, music academies, and online. I love helping students grow, whether they’re complete beginners learning their first chords or advanced musicians developing songwriting, improvisation, recording, or performance skills. My lessons are creative, supportive, and designed to build both skill and confidence while keeping music fun and inspiring.
My musical influences range from Jimi Hendrix to Steve Vai, and I’m currently recording my next album - so stay tuned.
