About Judith
My name is Judith Worrall. I have taught English and Humanities in leading independent schools across the US and UK for over two decades, working with middle and high school students in AP Literature, IB Diploma, and gifted programs. I hold a BA (Hons) and MA in English and Humanities from UK universities and a PGCE in Education, and I have served as an IB Diploma Programme Coordinator and external examiner for both IB and A-Level assessments.
I bring the same rigor, structure, and care to tutoring that I bring to the classroom. Students leave my sessions with clearer thinking, stronger writing, and greater confidence in their own voice.

My teaching is structured and direct. A lesson typically begins with close reading — we look carefully at what a text is actually doing before we discuss what it means. From there I move students toward analysis: building an argument, supporting it with evidence, and expressing it in writing that is precise and confident. I work on drafting and revision as a process, not a one-shot effort, and students learn to interrogate their own thinking before they commit it to the page.
What sets me apart is the combination of high expectations and careful scaffolding. I know how to break complex tasks into manageable steps without losing rigor — a skill I have developed working with gifted learners, students with ADHD and autism spectrum profiles, and everyone in between. Students who have struggled to produce consistent work in other settings routinely find their footing with structured support and clear feedback. I also bring a strong creative dimension to my teaching — poetry, creative nonfiction, and imaginative writing are not extras but integral to how I teach students to find their voice and take risks with language. Students learn to read like writers and write like readers.
My lessons are suitable for middle and high school students working toward stronger reading comprehension, analytical essay writing, AP Literature preparation, IB Language and Literature, or general academic writing skills. I am equally comfortable working with students who need foundational support and those aiming for the highest levels.
