About Don
I have a vast background in the humanities. As an undergraduate, I studied both history and English. I then taught students with learning challenges for four years at my first school . From there I earned two masters degrees: one in American Literature and one in Library and Information Science. After grad school, I taught English (English 9, Honors English9, English 11, Honors / AP Lit English 11, and senior writing) and World History 9. Since changing schools, I have now taught middle school social studies, World History 9, Honors World History 9, US History, and AP U.S. History. I also taught ESL and more English and Social Justice electives. I'm a very prepared and fun teacher who works hard to improve student skills and engagement.

My teaching methods: We will work on writing, do a few fun activities and also more serious ones. We will then dig into the material you and I choose to study. We'll read, talk, discuss the readings and then dig deeper into them to get to the more abstract meanings. My lessons are typically 5 minutes journaling, then review the material and skills from the previous meetings, then the main focus will be encountering new material. We will work on improving reading, writing, and discussion skills. We will also work to build up your confidence! My lessons are geared toward middle school, high school, and undergraduates.
