About Roderick
I am an experienced educator with 26 years of teaching and mentoring students, including extensive experience teaching middle school mathematics, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra. I hold a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics and have dedicated my career to helping young people succeed academically and personally.
In addition to teaching, I have 20 years of experience coaching middle school, AAU, and high school basketball, which has strengthened my ability to motivate, mentor, and build positive relationships with young people.
I am patient, dependable, and committed to meeting students where they are. My goal is to help every student develop stronger math skills, greater confidence, and the belief that they can be successful.

I provide personalized math tutoring for students in grades 4–10, focusing on building strong skills, confidence, and a better understanding of math. With 26 years of experience as an educator, I understand that every student learns differently. I break challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps and use examples that connect to each student’s needs.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student understands and where they need support. We then review key concepts, work through problems together, and gradually move toward independent practice. I can assist with homework, test preparation, skill gaps, or helping students get ahead.
My goal is not simply to help students get the right answer. I want them to understand why the answer makes sense and develop strategies they can use independently. I provide a patient, encouraging environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and build confidence in mathematics.
