About Yurika

In-person lessons available in Dublin or Swords, and online.

Japanese for Adults | Japanese for Secondary Students | Beginners | Leaving Cert | JLPT Prep

Hi, I'm an experienced native Japanese teacher based in Dublin.
I've been teaching Japanese to English speakers in Ireland for over 3 years, both at schools and through online private lessons.
I love both learning and teaching languages, and I'd love to be part of your learning journey.
Drawing on my own language-learning experience and my understanding of the differences between Japanese and English (and/or Korean), I'll show you how to use each word naturally and I won't stop explaining until it really clicks for you.

My lessons are a good fit if you...

○ Want more opportunities to actually speak Japanese
○ Prefer grammar to be explained clearly and logically
○ Want to understand why Japanese works the way it does, not just memorise it
○ Want to learn natural Japanese you can use in real conversations

Lessons are open to...

○ Adults and secondary school students
○ Complete beginners starting from zero
○ Learners looking for more speaking practice
○ Leaving Cert & JLPT students

A bit about me

I'm originally from Kobe, Japan, and have been living in Ireland for around four years. I previously worked in roles where I used Japanese, English, and Korean, but eventually found my true passion in teaching Japanese — and I absolutely love what I do!
I recently completed my Master's in Marketing, and I also love creating visual learning materials to make Japanese easier to understand and remember.
Outside of teaching, I love travelling, and I've recently started learning the violin!

Whatever your reason for learning Japanese, I'd love to help you enjoy the process and make progress towards your goals.

I'd love to hear what brings you to Japanese. See you in class!

About the lesson

In our first lesson, we'll get to know each other!
Let's talk about your goals, interests, and current level, and I can find the best approach for you. Based on this, I'll prepare personalised lessons and materials to support your progress.

What you can expect in my lessons:

○ Structured learning based on the Genki syllabus with my own original visual materials
○ Plenty of speaking practice and output
○ Clear, logical grammar explanations, along with practice using what you've learned
○ Exam-focused support for the Leaving Cert and JLPT — including strategies for finding the right answer and targeting your weaker areas ○ Free conversation practice for intermediate and advanced learners
○ Interactive learning through games, real-life situations
○ Topics tailored to your interests and goals

And if you simply want to chat in Japanese and learn more about Japanese culture, that's absolutely welcome too! I love chatting with my students and creating a relaxed environment where you can enjoy using Japanese.

Most importantly, I want YOU to have fun learning Japanese.
Let’s learn, speak, and enjoy Japanese together!
