About Am

I'm a passionate primary teacher with almost 15 years' experience, a Master's degree in Inclusive Education, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and extensive senior leadership experience. I specialise in early reading through systematic phonics, early writing and 11+ English preparation, helping children develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to achieve their individual goals.

As an avid reader and regular book club member, I believe reading opens the door to imagination, opportunity and lifelong learning. I love seeing children gain the confidence to master phonics, become enthusiastic readers and writers, and achieve success in assessments such as the Phonics Screening Check and 11+ entrance examinations.

My evidence-informed approach combines engaging, personalised teaching with a strong focus on wellbeing, recognising that children learn best when they feel understood, supported and confident. Whether your child is taking their first steps in reading, preparing for the 11+, or needs additional literacy support through SEND, my aim is to help them flourish both academically and personally.

About the lesson

Every child deserves to feel successful in literacy. Whether they are taking their first steps in phonics, developing confidence as a reader and writer, preparing for the 11+, or need additional support through SEND, lessons are carefully tailored to meet their individual needs, strengths and goals.

Drawing on evidence-informed approaches to literacy, each session combines explicit teaching, practical strategies and engaging activities to build knowledge, confidence and independence. Children are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions and celebrate their progress in a calm, supportive environment where mistakes are seen as an important part of learning.

Lessons may focus on:
- Early Reading & Phonics – Developing secure phonics knowledge, decoding, fluency and a love of reading.
- Writing – Building vocabulary, sentence structure, spelling, grammar and creative writing skills.
- Reading Comprehension – Strengthening inference, vocabulary, retrieval and higher-order thinking.
- 11+ English – Developing the reading, vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills needed to approach entrance examinations with confidence.
- SEND Literacy Support – Personalised teaching that recognises each child's unique learning profile, building confidence alongside academic progress.

Above all, my aim is to help every child become a confident, resilient learner who not only achieves their academic goals but also develops a lifelong love of reading, writing and learning.
