About Rachel
Rachel's journey into the realm of coaching began after spending several years as a dedicated theatre arts teacher in a public middle school in Massachusetts. During her time there, she had the privilege of working closely with a diverse group of students, many of whom came from underrepresented backgrounds, including Latinx immigrants and English Language Learners.
As she immersed herself in the vibrant and multicultural classroom environment, Rachel witnessed firsthand the unique challenges and obstacles that these students faced. She recognized the need for individualized support and guidance to help them overcome barriers and unlock their full potential.
Driven by her passion for education and desire to make a positive impact, Rachel decided to channel her expertise and experience into creating her coaching business. Drawing from her background in theatre arts, she discovered the power of transformative learning experiences that could not only enhance academic performance but also foster personal growth and development.
Rachel's approach to coaching goes beyond traditional teaching methods. She understands that each student is a unique individual with their own set of strengths and areas of growth. With a keen eye for identifying the specific needs and learning styles of her clients, she tailors her strategies to ensure they receive personalized support that truly empowers them.
Through a combination of mentorship, academic guidance, and confidence-building exercises, Rachel helps her students navigate through challenging subjects and overcome self-doubt. Her ultimate goal is to instill in them a love for growth, learning, self-belief, and the skills necessary to thrive in both their academic and personal lives.
Whether it's empowering a developing actor or writer, helping a struggling student grasp complex concepts, providing guidance for college applications, or fostering the development of essential life skills, Rachel is devoted to helping her clients achieve their goals and unlock their full potential. Her enthusiasm and genuine care for their well-being create a nurturing environment where they can thrive and flourish.
In a world where personalized support and mentorship can make all the difference, Rachel's coaching business stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment. Through her dedication and expertise, she continues to inspire and transform the lives of students, one success story at a time.
Rachel has a master's degree in Theatre Education from Emerson College and a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Secondary Education from Lebanon Valley College. She is licensed to teach Theatre and English in Massachusetts and has 6+ years classroom teaching experience as well as 1+ year one-on-one teaching and coaching experience.

My approach to coaching and tutoring goes beyond traditional teaching methods. I understand that each student is a unique individual with their own set of strengths and areas of growth. I begin with every new student by completing an intake in order to identify their specific needs and learning styles. I then tailor my strategies to ensure my students receive personalized support that truly empowers them.
I have a relationship centered approach. Students need to feel safe in order to take risks and make mistakes, which is, after-all, some of the greatest lessons of all. I build trust and an environment of emotional safety for my students in order to ensure students begin to feel comfortable with their own imperfections and areas of growth.
My typical lesson plan will include:
1. A check-in: we will always check-in at the beginning of lessons so I can meet you where you are that day. If something awful happened earlier in the day, it's helpful for me to know that you aren't having the greatest day. It will inform our approach to the rest of the lesson.
2. We will go over goals or come up with goals for that lesson together (if we are working on an assignment from school, you will need to share that with me at the goals portion of the lesson)
3. We will then go over the agenda for the lesson (either what I have planned, or we will break down your school assignment together)
4. Content: this will be the main portion of the lesson and what we will spend the most time on. This is of course going to be dependent on what you are working on with me.
5. Homework (I don't assign homework unless it is either absolutely necessary or you have asked me to give you expansion assignments to work on for homework)
6. Goals for Next Time and Check-out: make a goal for working together the next session and check-out to see how you are doing emotionally after working with me (it's important for me to know if you are not doing well at the end of working with me, so we can figure out why and how I can better encourage you and build up your confidence.)
As a tutor, what will set me apart will be my experience as a classroom teacher in both English and the arts. I also thrive with students with learning differences. I will always advocate for students with learning differences and coach them to become better advocates for themselves.
As for age range, I have worked with students in 2nd grade all the way up through the undergraduate level.
Recommendations

Rachel was my student teacher when I was in high school- she was engaging, enthusiastic, and creative. Her dedication and passion were evident through the work she did with my class.
I had Rachel as a student teacher back in high school and was continually impressed by her ability to teach and engage her students daily. We were always involved in discussion and constantly challenged to think outside the box when it came to literature. Even with the obstacle of a less-than-supportive teacher to guide her, she was still able to make the most of the resources she had and left a lasting impression on her students.
