In my lessons, I create a dynamic and engaging learning environment tailored to the individual needs of each student. Whether you're tackling historical concepts, delving into philosophical theories, crafting compelling essays, structuring CVs, or working on dissertations and theses, I offer comprehensive guidance and support.
Understanding the Fundamentals: We begin by establishing a strong foundation in the subject matter. For history and philosophy, we explore key concepts, significant events, and influential thinkers. For academic writing, we dissect the nuances of effective essay structures, CV formatting, and dissertation/thesis organization.
Personalized Guidance: Every student is unique, and I tailor my teaching to address your specific challenges and goals. I provide personalized feedback and constructive critique, focusing on areas that require improvement.
Practical Application: We apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. For academic writing, we work on real-life essay prompts, CV drafting, and dissertation/thesis development. I offer practical tips for conducting research, citing sources, and structuring arguments effectively.
Outcome: By the end of our lessons, you will not only have a deep understanding of the subject matter but also refined writing skills. You will be able to craft articulate essays, compelling CVs, and well-structured dissertations/theses, demonstrating your mastery of the topics.

- I really enjoyed our first session and it was nice to learn a little bit more about Calum. He comes across as an intelligent young man with strong subject knowledge, but he is also keenly aware of areas for improvement. I am looking forward to helping him revise for his a level examsPhil's response :

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I have known Phil for many years and in that time I have always known him to be an honest, trustworthy man. As a qualified teacher and tutor myself, I would gladly rely on him to tutor a family member. I have had the pleasure of proofreading essays written by Phil previously and his arguments are well-crafted and balanced. His knowledge of Humanities is particularly impressive as is his ability to immerse himself in understanding a particular topic.
Phill is a fantastic educator and strives to do right by his students in all aspects. He has a very bright and optimistic personality always encouraging the same amount of enthusiasm he has for his subject in his learners.
He is very patient with his learners, conscientious of everyone’s learning needs and supporting those who made need a little extra help. Additionally, he makes every attempt to stretch and challenge his learners pushing them to improve. Phil always tries to develop his teaching practice and is always learning to support his students needs, an absolute credit to his profession.Phil is a passionate and kind-hearted individual. As a tutor, he helps build confidence in his students and self-esteem. He teaches his students through both a stimulating and concise manner that allows them to comprehend the teaching material. Finally, his personality is built on integrity and affability that allows anyone, like myself, to be honest and truthful with him. Highly recommend!
Phil consistently demonstrates himself to be conscientious, detail-oriented, professional and kind.
Outside of his teaching, Phil makes for a great role model for those around him. He's the kind of person you can rely upon to be there when you need him. He's also consistently kind and thoughtful. In terms of his teaching, you couldn't ask for somebody better. In fact, Phil can sometimes be too dedicated to his teaching and somebody has to tell him his lesson is already perfect! With history and philosophy, Phil is an expert. Outside of those subjects, he's very good with general study skills. He's organised, good with time management and communication skills.
You might think this is exaggeration for the sake of a recommendation, but I would genuinely encourage you to give Phil a go - especially if this is your first time booking a tutor. The right tutor can be the change you look back on in the future as key to you or your child's success. That change could be Phil.View more recommendations
