About Kate
I always wanted to be a teacher. When I was a small child, I remember helping another child to learn a melody on their recorder. I felt a profound sense of satisfaction when the idea 'clicked' and a light sparked in this child's eyes. I knew then that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

I am a qualified UK teacher and subject leader with an English degree, PGCE with QTS, and I am currently completing a Master’s in Education. I have several years of classroom experience across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, alongside extensive 1:1 tutoring experience for students aged 5–16.
I specialise in KS2 SATs preparation and GCSE English Language and Literature, supporting students to develop both confidence and exam technique. I have successfully supported learners through SATs, 11+ preparation, and GCSE exams.
My teaching is informed by current educational research and focuses on breaking learning into clear, structured steps. I prioritise retrieval practice, modelling, and guided application before independent work, ensuring students understand both the content and how to apply it under exam conditions.
I also have significant experience working with SEND and neurodiverse learners, and I adapt lessons carefully to individual needs. I aim to create a calm, structured learning environment where students feel supported and able to succeed.
Lesson structure
Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes and follow a structured format:
Retrieval and review of prior learning
Explicit teaching and modelling
Guided practice
Independent application
Targeted feedback and next steps
Homework is provided where appropriate, and personalised feedback is given at the start of each session to ensure consistent progress.
