About Madelyn

Clinical Laboratory Sciences Student, with a focus in molecular genetics. Currently working as a Microbiology Management Technician. Skilled in Biology, Advanced biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pathology, Anatomy and Physiology, Toxicology, Laboratory Medicine, Human Genetics and Immunology.

I started tutoring in the beginning of 2019. I realized that I had a real passion for biological sciences and I understood the material on a very deep level so I decided to share that by helping others.

I am currently a third year college student with over 60 credits in sciences alone. Additionally, I am majoring in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, which primarily consists of biological science courses. I have hands on work experience as a Microbiology Management Technician for a Local Laboratory, as well as formerly working as an Analytical Chemistry Technican for Kodak. I work well with others and have leadership experience through my time as the Skills USA New York State 2018-2019 Area 1 Vice President.

About the lesson

First, we begin with what they are currently learning in class. This way, they are able to better understand the material and ask questions along the way that they may not have been able to ask during a lecture. Then I will ask them about their strengths and weaknesses. Some examples I've had in the past have been, "I'm really good at studying and preparing for a test, but once the test is placed infront of me, I shut down". Or, some students will have difficulty retaining the material in general and I will make it my job to come up with creative ways for them to better understand and learn the material, through acronyms, demonstrations, and visual learning as well as effective study materials in preparation for exams and quizzes.

I have worked with a variety of students. Ranging from elementary aged to college sophomores, along with students on the Autism spectrum and students with other learning disabilities including dyslexia and ADHD. I enjoy working with a wide range of individuals and strongly value diversity.

Details

Prior to the first session, I ask that students reach out to me if they are interested in working with me to see if we would be a good fit, we will have a breif discussion and discuss their goals what they hope to achieve through working with me. Then, it will be up to them if they want to proceed with tutoring. Each session will run $25.00 an hour. Requests for personal study materials and handmade review guides specific to each student will be an additional $5.00
