About Conrad

Hello! My name is Conrad. I am an industry professional working in surveillance as a software engineer for both the private and public sector. Specifically, I have done work for FedEx and multiple high-profile federal agencies such as the DEA and DHS. The stacks I work with include C#, Java, JavaScript (JQuery & Bootstraps), HTML, CSS, and ArcGis.

Before working in Industry, I studied Computer Science at the University of Washington, where I graduated with a 3.85 in-major GPA. In my spare time, I worked as a TA for coding and scripting college courses such as Game Development 385, and traveled to elementary schools where I taught children the fundamentals of programming using Scratch and Python. My passion for tutoring eventually lead me across the world, where I worked in Nepal for 3 months teaching students ages 8 to 15 math, english, and Java coding basics.

I am a compasionate teacher dedicated to helping you achieve your computer science goals, whether you are a beginner hoping to learn the basics, or you are an advanced learner wanting to explore a new language or framework. I will help facilitate your learning through homework help, pair-programming, exercises, and lesson plans.

I began teaching in college at the University of Washington as a teachers assistant for two courses, CSS 385 & BIMD 363. These courses covered the fundamentals of Game Development using the Unity game engine and C# for scripting. A teachers assistant is responsible for grading papers and programming assignments, holding group tutoring sessions, and facilitating quiz sections.

Eventually, I began working for a company called Coding with Kids. Coding with Kids hires teachers to visit elementary schools in the Greater Seattle Area for an after school program where students ages 6 to 12 learn coding basics with Scratch and Python. I worked for Coding with Kids for a few college quarters, until I graduated.

I also traveled to Nepal through CADIP where I worked as a volunteer english, math, and Java teacher for 3 months. There, I had a wonderful time teaching students ages 8 to 15 coding fundamentals.

I work as a professional software engineer in the surveillance industry, writing software for massive private corporations and public agencies such as FedEx, the DEA, and the DHS.

Before working in industry, I studied at the University of Washington where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Software Engineering.

When I work with a new student, I like to begin with setting some goals. It's important for me to know what my students hope to achieve in the near and distant future. This way, we can work together to establish a lesson plan that facilitates the students learning to help them accomplish their goals.

I have worked with a large variety of students ranging from elementary school to college level. Every student is different in their pre-existing skills and backgrounds. I have taughst students who had trouble speaking english, and I have taught students with disabilities such as Autism.

Regardless of our differences, I have always had a wonderful time working with new students, and getting to know what works best for them.
