About Olivia

I am passionate about helping students work to perfect their writing and communication skills. These are essential skills that students need to learn before transitioning into the college or professional environment.

I offer my 4 years of knowledge from my degree at Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia. I studied both English Literature and Journalism, and I bring a high level of experience in writing academic essays.

I have been an avid reader since before I was in public school. My love for English literature grew through my studies in college and I have since honed my writing abilities. I am passionate about teaching students to express themselves through writing and to be able to properly communicate their ideas in a clear and cohesive manner. From my experience, having good writing abilities can translate into every field or industry.

I have a B.A. in English Literature and Journalism. I worked as a tutor for D.C. Reads, a program through Georgetown University, where I tutored kids in elementary school.

About the lesson

I ask the student how they like to be motivated. It is important to know how to drive the student to do the work that must be done. I then need to know how the student prefers to learn - this helps me to decide what method of teaching is going to be most effecient. Lastly, I want to know what the student intends to get out of our sessions. It is helpful to vocalize expectations so that I know how to assist their goals.
