About Leah

As a language learner of two languages, I understand how challenging learning a language can be. I tailor our sessions to your needs by asking about your goals at the beginning of each session. I also adapt my teaching to each of your learning styles, helping you grasp the material quickly. I am a fluent Italian speaker. I have been tutoring Italian for three years at Brandeis University in Boston, USA. I am a native English speaker and have been teaching English for five years. This year I am teaching English in southern France as part of the Teaching Assistant Program in France. I recived my TOFEL certificate in 2018.

I get to help people gain confidence and excitement about speaking another langauge

I studied abroad in Italy where I had the chance to teach English to middle schoolers three times a week.

I received a TOFEL in 2018 after teaching English at various language summer camps in Italy that summer.

English

In the first session with a student, I ask them their short-term goals and long-term goals. I also ask what areas of the language they would like to focus on (writing, reading, speaking, listing). Then week to week, we check in if they have any specific work from school/outside they want help with. If not, I create tailor a general curriculum for them to work on.

I have worked with multiple ages 5-22.

Look for someone who has a language approach that fits yours. There are many ways to learn a language. It is important to find a teacher that understands what best works for you

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How can I break this down into easier steps?

What study strategies/skills do I already have?

What other resources online or in-person can I refer to for help?

I charge $25 per/hour. The max amount of hours that I tutor in a row is two because I believe people need breaks for the information to settle in.
