About Penny
I enjoy collaborating with students, taking sentences apart in an effort to create new ones, and experimenting with different ways to say the same thing.
I have an MA in TESOL/English.
I have been tutoring English since 2017, at NMU in the writing center at well as privately. I have also tutored online.
My first novel (for young readers) is finished and almost hot off the press.
I am a tutor rather than teachers. I want to work with my students, and I began helping at the university where there are many ESL students.
MA English. Certification in TESOL.
Four years of tutoring, face to face and online, including one year in the writing center at the University.

About the lesson

Collaborating. First write a few sentences about a topic tha you are interested in or write about yourself. This exercise will tell me something about their writing ability. Then talk to them about writing, do they like it, what their experience is, what they enjoy writing about etc. Then we will write some more and identify areas that need work. At this point, we will work on these areas using different lessons and exercise. A journal will be needed to write in everyday.
Native speakers 10 through 20. ESL students in person and online (from around the world) beginners and advanced learners.
Have a practice lesson with them, maybe two to determine whether or not you can work with a particular tutor.
My first novel (for young readers) is being printed as we speak. YEY!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student should first determine their needs and then ask a tutor if they can help them reach their goals. If the answer is yes then that will be the focus.
My questions: Is the student willing to write everyday? Is the student willing to edit their writing? Is the student looking for a fast easy fix?
