I enjoy working with students to make a maximal improvement to their grade. I specialize in writing help, but also enjoy content instruction and teaching research skills.

Ever since I was seventeen years old, I have had a passion for history. From the moment I graduated high school, I have done everything I could to become a teacher. I taught Sunday school and tutored throughout my undergraduate years, and finally got a chance to student teach while at Columbia.

As a writer and a researcher, my specialty is certainly helping with papers (English or Social Studies). I have also studied US history, World history, and political science in a professional academic capacity, and have done my fair share of studying US and World literature in my own time.

About the lesson

Typically, I like to dive right in to help with critical upcoming assignments. Whether it be studying for a subject test or working on a research essay, I like to maximize every session to put the student in a position to improve their grade. I can also deliver lessons on subject matter if notified of the topic in advance.

I have worked with everyone from middle schoolers to graduate school students. My favorite is high school of course.

I would tell them to hire someone who is both down to earth and holds impeccable credentials.

Recently, I coached a graduate student through the grueling edTPA process, the portfolio project required to become a licensed New York State teacher. It involved instruction on how to perform a lot of technical writing with arcane vocabulary. The student doubted themselves nearly the whole way, but I assured them it would be fine, and when they passed in the end they were overcome with joy.

Details

It really depends on the student. For graduate students, I have charged as much as $150 per hour. However, for high school students, typically I would charge $80-$100 per hour depending on how much work I am doing outside of the session.
