About Jonathan

Greetings!

I am a Colorado-licensed, AP- and IB-trained English instructor with seventeen years of classroom teaching, tutoring, and editing experience. For the last eight years, I've also taught a highly successful PSAT/SAT/ACT prep course and counseled students as they navigate the college selection, application, and essay-writing process.

My first goal is to determine your abilities and then, to give you a variety of resources, direct instruction, and guidance so you can achieve your ambitions. I can help you if you are a high school freshman struggling with grammar and composition, an English language learner with your sights set on a competitive undergraduate program, a college student who feels as if you're in over your head and need some review, or a rising professional who would like to tune up your communication skills.

I have found that the right tutor at the right time can make a profound difference in a student's intellectual identity, confidence, and long-term prospects. I will devote myself to helping you reach your goals.

My hourly rates range from $65 to $110 per hours, depending on the circumstances and session frequency.

Thank you!

Above and beyond on his help
Professor John was very helpful, showing a good amount of patience to understand me and what I want to express on my paper. His editing and research skills are above average. He is a perfectionist, a detail oriented person. I just can say: if you want to have an awesome grade and feedback from your teacher just work with him as your tutor. I had the opportunity to learn a lot from him and I will continue looking for his advice as a tutor I recommended him 100%.

Knowledgeable and professional
Jon is a very effective tutor. I could not be more impressed and recommend him highly. I do not think that an in-person tutor could have accomplished what he manages to do on-line.

Svetlana

Knowledgeable tutor
I came to Jon to improve my writing skills since English is my second language. Jon has been teaching me sentence construction, such as independent and dependent clauses, prepositional phrases, simple, complex, compound sentences, etc. So far, it has been going well. Thank you, Jon.

Lessons with Jon
Jon is very knowledgeable on the poetry taught in 10th grade, and my son learned a lot. After the lesson Jon messaged me about what they learned and how it went. My son is not a self-driven kid, and Jon is very encouraging. I am so grateful for finding a match for my son on Wyzant.

Lydia

Knowledgeable and respectful teacher
Jon has taught me Ph.D.-level reading of English literature. Since I'm not a native speaker, I had a hard time comprehending classic critics of literature. So he took the approach of teaching me strategies of reading and interpreting literature. Now I know in which direction to take my work. I'm looking forward to his next class.
