About Kara

Your family's literacy and communication skill goals are my top priority. I work closely with parents and students to develop high-quality, individualized lesson plans that work for your busy schedule.

I offer a variety of tutoring services for students of all ages online through Zoom/Facetime, and in person (NYC and Northern NJ only).

I’ve been working with students as a teacher since 2005. I received my B.A. in Communications from Montclair State University and my M.A. in Special Education from New Jersey City University. I hold certifications in Elementary Education, Special Education, High School Communications, and the Orton Gillingham approach through Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The best part of online teaching is getting to help students from all over the world reach their goals. I have been a certified public school teacher for 17 years and a tutor for even longer than that!

I began my teaching career in 2005, but I tutored, coached, and worked with students before that.

I have a short information sheet I send to the parent prior to our first class.  We discuss the students learning needs and goals.  After that, I assess the student, and we get to work!

Pre K-12th All Learners

I specialize in building skills and confidence.  You need to hire someone who helps you feel good about yourself.

I am so fond of spending quiet moments with my family.  I love to take our goldendoodle pup on walks and to be outside.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about their goals for the future.  I always appreciate knowing what they feel like their greatest strengths and weaknesses are.
