About Atiyasha

I have a BA with Honors from UNC Chapel Hill in History and Economics and a Master's in Applied Economics. Therefore, I have a mastry in both quantitative and qualitative subjects. I have experience tutoring high school students, especially in high school algebra and AP statistics. I also love helping students improve their critical thinking and essay writing skills.

SAT scores: 800 reading, 710 math.

I really enjoy working with high school aged children. There is a lot of pressure to succeed and to think about the future and I want to give students the confidence and skills to move forward. I understand that it's tough to communicate with teachers and peers and I want to make sure the student's needs are being heard.

About the lesson

First I will evaluate their current level and discuss what they want out of the session/sessions. After the initial phase, I will ask for what assignment/topic the student wants to do for the following session. I will request that they give me the material given to them in school so I know where they are coming from and how they are being evaluated. This will allow me to prep and be prepared with several possible ways to teach. Over time I will learn what style works with a student and what doesn't.
