About Michael

Prospective graduate student with 10+ years of writing experience in the private sector. Easy to work with, incredibly flexible schedule and a love of helping others.

When I work with someone, I try to learn as much from them as they learn from me.

Graduate of Michigan State University's College of Arts and Letters, 10 years of writing experience as a professional comedian.

About the lesson

First, I like to communicate with the paretns to identify problems areas and spaces where improvement is needed the most. I will taylor the lessons to center around those areas. This insures that the student gets the most out of the lesson and the parent is satisfied and aware of what we are covering.

From there, I have found that it is most effective to establish a connection with the student so they know that I am there to help and that I care about their improvement as wll as them as a human. This will include discussing what they hope to get out of our sessions, what they feel they need to improve upon and what already works for them. Allowing this level of agency with a student allows them to take ownership of our time and commit to it. Of course, this plan of action is only relevant to students from grades 6-12, but the same principles apply to younger children as well.
