About Chelsea

I worked for two years as a writing consultant at the University of Texas Writing Center, where I helped 250+ college students with all parts of the writing process.

UT has the longest training period of any university writing center in the country—a full semester.

They train their consultants to use an approach that is not explicitly directive or evaluative. Instead, we try to lead the student by asking pointed questions so that they can find and understand the problems themselves. Thereby they improve not just the current paper at hand but improve as writers and critical thinkers broadly.

• Interned 4 months, enhancing content editing and consulting skills to pass quality evaluations for the position

• Assessed clients’ writing and actively listened to determine priorities for each 50-minute session

• Employed nondirective techniques to help 250+ clients improve their writing skills and maintain work authorship

•Collaborated with clients in brainstorming, drafting, and revision to guide them through the writing process
