About Agustina
Hello, students! Our names are Agustina and Joseph. We are PhD candidates and research assistants at University of Oregon. Both of us are highly qualified to assist you in all of your scholarly needs. Both of us are responsible for directing classes, whether lecturing or leading discussion, so we are capable of explaining difficult concepts through familiar language and in an accessible style. We are able writers and editors, and are responsible for teaching students how to write in an academic style for essays and how to edit their essays.
We love philosophy and learning more generally. Our days are spent reading, conversing, and writing. We especially love to share what we have read, conversed about, and wrote with others. This is exemplified in the classroom, where we are able to impart our knowledge and skills to people who are only now beginning to love learning and hopefully philosophy, too. We also hope to share this with you.
Officially, we began teaching with the University of Oregon. We also have worked with peers and fellow students, workshopping and editing each other's writings, for almost the entirety of our academic careets. Both of us have worked in and out of classrooms, creating and teaching content, which is reflective of our studies and research.
Both of us are published writers and frequently write essays at a graduate-level. We are expected to write about 200 pages a year of highly technical content and in a rigorous argmentative form. We have, been us, over 20 years of university education at every level. Our training in philosophy also has given us general skills in reading comprehension, writing ability, and logical acuity that allows us to work in the humanities more generally. Both of us have also done research work in philosophy, as assistants and on our own, so we can aid students in their research.

Both of us prefer to cultivate a open atmosphere to talk freely. We think that philosophy, and scholarly pursuits more generally, are best done in a spirit of friendship. As a consequence, we will often neglect formalities for the sake of conversation. Once the conversation begins, we prefer to work on a specific project of the student. We can converse over a text a student needs help reading in greater depth, or to aid them comprehend the main concepts and arguments. We can also freely converse together over a writing project, such as a short essay or term paper. For the latter type of project, we can guide a student on how to construct their essays, with respect to sentence and paragraph structure, and then content. We can also edit the student's essays, offer extensive feedback on written work, and then return to converse about the feedback and how to use it optimally for future essays.
Both of us have worked with students from many different disciplines and majors and are not restricted to philosophy students only. We teach introductory courses, so we are accumstomed to helping students who have only begun their university careers. Both of us are committed to teaching students of any level the skills they need to succeed in the university and beyond.
We would advise students to carefully consider what their needs are, devise specific questions, and outline what projects they need to help working on, and then contact us so that we can assist you in accomplishing your needs.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
We would advise students to think about what they want to accomplish in their university careers and why. Do you want to become a better reader and learn how to analyze and deconstruct texts? Do you want to become a better writer? What kind of writer? Do you want to reconstruct the arguments of texts or devise your own? Do you want to write essays that are persusasive or argumentatively sound? Do you need tips on how to construct thesis statements or how to outline and structure your essays?
